Meet Boris

Boris is a beautiful British Shorthair that was seen by our medic Federica after ingestion of a toy on the day of his birthday.

The foreign body was visualised using ultrasonography in the stomach near to the pylorus. It was successfully retrieved under general anaesthetic endoscopically using a basket by one of the referral nurses. This was such a relief as if the toy remained was going to pass into the intestines which would have caused an obstruction, that would have required exploratory laparotomy to remove it.
